Nuclear battery for mobile devices with 50 years of autonomy

Nuclear energy for powering remote controls, portable multimedia devices, mobile phones and other devices that we use in everyday life - this is an ambitious project that the engineers of the Chinese company Betavolt Technology have set themselves. They also succeeded in their intention, as they were the first to prepare a nuclear battery with a lifespan of as much as 50 years.

The miniature BV100 battery, measuring 15 x 15 x 5 millimeters, can "hold" the power atoms in an object of very limited dimensions. Although many people associate the word nuclear with something dangerous, this type of energy is still used in various ways. It is found in satellites and submarine systems, and is also suitable for medical equipment, such as pacemakers.

The BV100 nuclear battery from the Chinese company Betavolt Technology is powered by the radioactive element nickel-63. This can continuously produce a voltage of three volts with an electrical power of 100 microwatts. In addition, the battery can withstand extreme temperature loads. It can produce electricity at temperatures from minus 60 degrees up to 120 degrees Celsius.

The interesting Betavolt Technology BV100 nuclear battery is expected to go into mass production later this year. The prospects are even better. As early as next year, the company Betavolt Technology is expected to prepare a miniature nuclear battery with a power of as much as one watt. This should of course be intended for powering larger electronic devices.
