The Sims 5: Release date, speculation and more

Fans of The Sims franchise get ready, because here is The Sims 5 or. "Project Rene". This was the longest period between the previous and the new main edition since the series began. The Sims 4 really didn't spoil us with countless extras that would keep us glued to the screens, and that's exactly why we're more as ready to continue. Every time a new installment is released, even the biggest fans of the franchise have a certain amount of skepticism about what features to expect - both new and returning old ones.

We don't have all the answers right now, but there is still a lot that is known about the new The Sims 5 game.

Å release date speculation

For now, the secret name of the game is being communicated, “Project Rene”, and until the official name is known, we will use The Sims 5. Unfortunately, no additional details are known about the exact release date. Game developer Maxis officially announced that they are working on a sequel as early as October 2022 at the Behind the Sims Summit event. The only hint we've gotten so far has been a statement from Lyndsay Pearson, the franchise's creative vice president: “For the next few years, we will continue to share with you all updates about the Rene project.”

Based on all this information, we can speculate that The Sims 5 will not be released until 2025.

Platforms

So far, it has not been confirmed and officially announced which platforms The Sims 5 will play on, but it is quite obvious that these will be personal computers. The "sneak peak" mentioned, among other things, the transfer of the game to mobile devices, which possibly indicates one additional platform.

Trailers

It's not technically a "trailer", but the Behind the Sims Summit event is currently all we have tangible information about The Sims 5. We can see some very early footage of decorating and customizing furniture, But there is still a huge amount that we cannot imagine.

User experience

Based on the presentation, we know that The Sims 5 will bring some systems or at least these are planned. The first is a much more robust version of the Create-A-Style tool previously used in The Sims 3. Now you can upload your own custom designs to the gallery and use them and place them on furniture. These can be further modified and edited on a smaller scale than ever before.

The other big detail here is that The Sims 5 will feature more gameplay, although the full extent of this is still unclear. We know you can collaborate to share and create with friends, but you can also play completely alone.
