We will be able to partially repair the Google Pixel Fold ourselves

Google has confirmed that official replacement parts for the Google Pixel Fold will be available online.

He explained that he would offer "genuine spare parts" and repair instructions, including battery replacements and internal and external displays. It works with device repair experts and spare parts suppliers from iFixit.

This is an important milestone for users, as the Pixel Fold is the first foldable phone that you can in theory repair yourself - of course, if you manage to find it in Slovenia. As always, this Pixel phone is available in a very limited range.

Other foldable phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, are used for repairs by classic services. Last year, Google was the firstč partnered with iFixit to offer replacement parts for the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series, as well as some older models. Samsung also works with iFixit, but currently doesn't sell parts for phones newer than the 2021 Galaxy S21 series, and doesn't even offer parts for any flip phone Samsung has ever made.

There are currently no Pixel Fold parts available on iFixit, but that's not surprising given the fact that the phone wasn't officially released until June 28th. At the moment, we can't even find it on Amazon, let alone in any Slovenian store. We're hoping to see Pixel Fold parts online soon, though Google's statement didn't mention a timeframe for the parts to appear.

The fact that you will be able to buy official replacement parts for the Pixel Fold is good news, as testers recently proved that the display of the new Pixel Fold is poorly resistant to shocks and scratches. All foldable phones are fundamentally more fragile than regular phones, but not to the extent of the Pixel Fold. However, it would be nothingč wrong, if other manufacturers followed Google's example.
