Honor Play 50 Plus: a cheap phone for the undemanding

The Play 50 Plus is the latest smartphone from Honor in the affordable price range, which the manufacturer hopes will stand out mainly due to some design accessories and a low price. The phone has a slim and elegant appearance with flat edges, but despite its slimness, it contains an impressive battery capacity of 6000 mAh. Of course, not everything is rosy, as it is a phone for less than 200 euros.

The latest addition to the Honor Play series has adopted the same design approach as seen in the Honor 90 and Honor Magic5 Lite phones. On the back there is a frame with two blades. Only the main resolution of 50 MP labeled AI will be really useful, which lets us know right away that we shouldn't expect too much. Exciting photos. The second sensor is a depth sensor (2 MP), which will be useless in most cases and is present only because of its larger number of cameras. 

The main advantages of the Play 50 Plus phone are the already mentioned battery, a large 6.8-inch screen and a back that uses Honor's color technology, which enables color shades to change depending on the light and viewing angle. The screen supports FullHD+ resolution, but it is an LCD and not an OLED panel, which is quite expected for this price range. The screen is slightly curved, but it cannot completely hide the concrete blackness around the frame. 

The consolation prize is the 90-Hz refresh rate, which will ensure a smooth user experience, provided, of course, that the Dimensity 6020 processor manages to provide enough power. The Android 13 operating system with MagicOS 7.2 skin is installed on the phone. The closest rival is the Realme 11 with the same processor and a very similar price 

The smartphone has only one configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. It is currently only available in China. However, Honor has committed to expanding its portfolio of devices in Europe, starting with new foldable phones. The Honor Play 50 Plus might also make an appearance.
