Instagram's Threads app reaches 100 million users in just five days

In doing so, it overtook ChatGPT and pointed to the potential of the social networking market. Experts say that the biggest challenge will be how to keep users on the platform.
Instagram's Threads app reaches 100 million users in just five days

Instagram's text app Threads reached 100 million registered users in just five days. Twitter's current biggest rival was released on June 6 (June 5 in the US). He also confirmed the big milestone of the application Adam Mosseri, the first man of Instagram. "100 million users in just five days. I'm not sure I can grasp that fact. It's crazy. I really can't believe it", he told the web portal Tech Crunch.

"The team worked hard, but we are aware that this is only the beginning. Everyone tells us "make it work, make it exceptional, make it grow". We have certainly pushed things beyond the established framework, but I certainly promise that we will do everything in our power to make the platform truly top-notch.", added Mosseri.

On the first day, Mark Zuckerberg regularly announced the number of newly registered users. Within just two hours of its release, 2 million users were registered, 5 million in four hours and 10 million users in seven hours. The next morning, Meta's CEO announced that Threads still had 30 million accounts. The speed of growth in the number of users of the new platform is all the more impressive when we realize that the application is not even available in the EU yet due to privacy reasons.

Until the Threads app, OpenAI's ChatGPT was considered one of the fastest growing consumer products ever. It reached 10 million daily active users in the first 40 days and 100 million monthly users in two months. Considering that we are in the first month of the Threads platform and that we are still talking about 100 million monthly active users, we can see what potential the innovation has in the field of social networks. However, many experts agree that the biggest challenge will be to keep users on the platform.

While many users are testing Meta's new social network, many are also pointing out the missing features and functionality. Meta claims that their developers are working intensively on the development of such and other flaws. We have already presented some of them on our articles.
