MediaTek is trying to win a bigger piece of the bargain for the rich Android ecosystem, where Qualcomm has dominated the processor field for many years. They have recently started testing satellite connectivity and have had good success in building cost-effective systems on a chip (SoC) for affordable Android phones and tablets. The company even more moči is investing in becoming a more recognizable name in the premium mobile device space. Therefore, it has established a strategy with which it wants to present a larger number of mid-price processors of the Dimensity 8000 family on an annual basis.

MediaTek recently introduced the new Dimensity 8300 mobile processor, which will find its home in Android phones before the end of the year, somewhat modestly and without much fanfare. The latest model boasts a powerful #141 8-core processor based on TSMC's 4 nm process. This, however, is something that was previously only available to flagship chips such as the Dimensity 9200+ or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8300 mobile processor supports four Arm Cortex-A715 cores (frequency 3.35 GHz) and six Cortex-A510 cores (frequency 2.2 GHz). Therefore, it is not surprising that the #141 is about 20 percent more powerful compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 8200 processor. In addition, the new MediaTek Dimensity 8300 consumes up to 30 percent less electrical energy during operation.

The graphics content is matched by the Arm Mali-G615 MC6 mobile graphics core. This offers up to 60 percent more performance compared to the #141 graphics core built into the Dimensity 8200 model. The highlight of the new MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor is also support for LPDDR5X mobile system memory.

The octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8300 mobile processor also supports the 5G mobile network. Here we also find support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connections. In short, everything we need in connection with smart mobile phones of a lower price class.
