A secret that wasn't even a secret is now revealed. The upcoming Surface Laptop 6 will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite. This device is codenamed OEMBR and has appeared on the Geekbench benchmark in a 16GB RAM configuration.

Microsoft is trying to hide the arrival of the new laptop by all means. For the čip, they used the very name Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, č although it is immediately clear that it is not the mentioned čip, as we immediately notice the frequency of 4 GHz.

The Snapdragon X1E-84-100 Oryon processor, the most powerful version in this family, reaches the highest frequency of 4.2 GHz. Interestingly, benchmark tests indicate that the chip operates in a "balanced" energy profile, which means that it could reach a higher clock rate in performance mode. In one of the Geekbench scores, the Surface Laptop 6 scored an incredible 2,714 points in the single-core and 14,078 points in the multi-core test. By comparison, the latest MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro chip scored only slightly higher, with a score of 3,084 in the single-core and 14,017 in the multi-core test. The Surface Laptop 6 with Snapdragon X Elite is clearly going to be a real beast.

Sodeč according to the results, Microsoft will finally have hardware available this year that can compete with Apple. The Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 are expected to be the first Windows candidates with the new Snapdragon X chips. They will also have the latest ¡i čip NPU to run advanced features with artificial intelligence.
