Slimbook Fedora computers for open source enthusiasts

Linux hardware manufacturer Slimbook and the Fedora Project recently announced the launch of the Slimbook Fedora 2 notebooks. These are the first notebooks to come pre-installed with the latest release of Fedora Linux 40.

Slimbook Fedora 2 notebooks with a smooth black magnesium body are powered by Intel Core i7 13700H (13th Gen) processors with 14 cores, 20 threads, 24 MB cache, Intel Iris Xe G7 graphics and up to 5 GHz clock speed, and have dedicated NVIDIA graphics GeForce RTX 4060 (8 GB GDDR6).

The Slimbook Fedora 2 is available in two versions, with 14- and 16-inch LTPS screens with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels and WQXGA 2560 x 1600, a maximum brightness of 400 cd/m2, 100- percentage sRGB, 1500:1 contrast, 90 Hz refresh rate and 16:10 aspect ratio.

Fedora-powered Linux laptops also feature two 5200 MHz DDR5 slots for up to 64GB of RAM, two NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 x4 slots for up to 8TB SSD storage with RAID support 0/1, webcam (1080p) with two stereo microphones, US ANSI keyboard layout and IR webcam for dedicated biometric facial recognition.

Slimbook Fedora 2 notebooks have two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 connectors, a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 connector with Displayport 1.4 output, a USB-C Thunderbolt 4 connector with Displayport 1.4a output and Power Delivery, an HDMI 2.1 connector , Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 wireless connection, Bluetooth 5.2 and a combined 3.5 mm headphone and microphone jack.

As expected, the laptops come pre-installed with the latest edition of Fedora Linux 40 Workstation with GNOME 46 desktop environment. The latest Nouveau drivers are also available to give users a much better experience. with a dedicated NVIDIA graphics processor on the 16-inch model. For the 14-inch model, it will be necessary to pay around 1400 euros, and for the larger one, an additional 300-400 euros.
