The Oppo Find X7 series is the first set of smartphones in the world to gain 5G-Advanced (5G-A) capability, also known as 5.5G. China Mobile is the first telecommunications operator in the world to introduce 5G-A technology, which should provide 300 times faster Internet speed compared to the 5G network.

Next-generation wireless mobile network technology for the first time #141 enables a speed of up to 10 Gb/s downlink on smartphones, and it is intended for both companies and ordinary users. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, the Oppo Find X7 and Oppo Find X7 Ultra are the first phones to get this new capability in China.

According to Nokia, a provider of equipment for mobile networks: “5G-Advanced will demonstrate the richest 5G capabilities in the coming decade, removing boundaries and expanding connectivity. 5G-Advanced will fundamentally change what you can achieve with your network, from immersive augmented reality (XR) experiences to high-precision location, presence and time technologies.”

According to the official documentation, the 5.5G or 5G-A technology can provide a maximum speed of 10 Gb/s for downstream transmission and a maximum speed of 1 Gb/s for upstream transmission, which is part of the #141 version 18 of the 3GPP standards body. Not only that, 5.5G technology offers energy savings, lower latency and higher network reliability compared to 5G technology, which is said to bridge the gap between 5G and 6G networks.

The 5.5G (5G-A) technology will benefit industry and companies more than consumer applications and operates in the 6 GHz and mmWave spectrum bands. 5G-Advanced technology is also expected to improve the mobile XR's virtual experiences, such as cloud gaming.
