Defense Derby is a competitive tower defense game. You and three other players compete for towers. The winner places a tower as part of their defense. The final winner is the one standing last. Wins guarantee you placement in higher levels, which allows you to take on tougher competition. This is also the main difference from other online PvP and tower defense games. There are also several PvE game modes available, if you don't feel particularly competitive one day. Defense Derby also features a few things to collect, and of course there are some upgrades available. Luckily, you don't need any additional in-app purchases to be successful in the game.

FeedFlow

Price: Free of charge

FeedFlow is a new RSS application. We don't see many apps like this these days, so this is a relatively unique release. It has a clean user interface that allows you to move smoothly through the feed. Clicking on the links opens the articles on their home site, which is both an advantage and a disadvantage. On the plus side, by visiting you are supporting the author and the site. The downside is that you're left without the RSS-specific reader features that some other apps have. Still, we think FeedFlow is a good app overall. It's not too much of a burden on the phone, it almost feels like a standalone, more customizable version of Google Discover. You can import into it an RSS feed with OPML files supported by this application.

Snowbreak: Containment Zone

Snowbreak: Containment Zone is a hybrid between a shooter and a gacha RPG. The characters you collect have different abilities and use different types of weapons. The main idea of the game is to use characters to solve missions and get rewards. Snowbreak: Containment Zone uses similar controls to other gacha RPG games, where each character has a basic attack, a support ability, and an ultimate ability. In terms of gameplay, Snowbreak: Containment Zone is actually a lot of fun. There is a co-op mode to play with friends, which makes the experience more fun than most gacha RPG games. The graphics are decent and the controls are fine too. The game definitely has a lot of potential, but we'll see how it develops over time.

Shortwave

Shortwave became a real hit this week. It was developed by ex-Googlers and is essentially a continuation of Inbox by Google. It has quite a few features that seem very useful. Among other things, an AI assistant that creates summaries of your email, which we actually found very useful for all of you who deal with a large amount of email. That's probably why professional bloggers like the app so much. Other features include delivery schedules, common things like pinning and rescheduling emails, smart tags, and the old Inbox by Google trick of grouping similar emails together. Shortwave is currently a free application and is quite functional.

Train Manager 2023

Train Manager 2023 is the latest release of the relatively popular Train Manager franchise. It's basically a game where you create and manage your own railway system. As with most similar games, you start with practically nothing and expand your empire around the world. You can also follow your trains live as they progress along their routes. There are also various upgrades and other things that you can use to increase your profit. Some items are only available through in-app purchases, but fortunately, at least initially, you don't need them to progress through the game. Later in the game, however, this can become a problem.
