5 Android Apps You Shouldn't Miss This Week (Part 92)

Snowbreak: Containment Zone

Price: Free of charge

First, we present a shooter with a science fiction theme and certain RPG elements. These are pretty common for an RPG game. You can summon different characters, upgrade them and use them to progress through the story. In addition, you can manually or automatically accumulate levels for the materials you use for said upgrade. The combat is geared more towards an action RPG than a traditional shooter, but the game offers you pistols as your primary weapon. Snowbreak: Containment Zone has quite a bit of sparkle and is different from the usual gacha RPG game.

SimplyLocal

Price: Free of charge

SimplyLocal is like Google Maps for locally grown food. It boasts ten thousand registered farms across the US where users can buy different types of food. Yes, unfortunately the application is not available in Slovenia, but we thought it was interesting enough to include it in this list. The search results also include agricultural markets, where you can buy more different types of food. Of course, the food is more expensive than what customers get in the store. The advantage of this app is that users can choose the quality of the food, and at least for some people, that matters. The app is free to use, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

War Thunder Mobile

Price: Free of charge

War Thunder Mobile is an important release for two reasons. For the first time, it brings the popular War Thunder franchise to mobile devices where you can battle tanks or ships against your opponents. The second reason is because it is the first major ray tracing game. Currently, ray tracing is supported by phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Mediatek 9200 and Exynos 2200 processors.

As for the gameplay, it looks great and the controls are relatively easy to master. Fortunately, the tutorial is not too long. annoying. Long resource gathering sessions are to be expected as you approach the endgame, but that's typical for a mobile game. If you enjoy military games, War Thunder Mobile is definitely worth a try.

The "Ray tracing" part is also important. This has been available since the release of the latest generations of mobile chips, but developers have been slow to respond. Ray tracing in War Thunder is subtle. The developers focused on better shadow details, which you can see in Qualcomm's presentation. The effect is noticeable when playing as a tank, but less so when playing as a ship where you are so far awayč it is said that small details are not noticeable. The new technology isn't as impressive as Cyberpunk 2077, which some might have expected, but it's still a big step forward for mobile gaming in general.
