The ultimate pocket-sized Insta360 camcorder

Insta360 has introduced its latest 360-degree action camera, the X4. The most notable upgrade the $500 camera offers over its predecessor, the X3, is the ability to shoot 8K video at 30 frames per second. This extra increased resolution and detail can come in handy when watching action videos on devices larger than a phone, when turning 360 footage on platforms like YouTube, or when cropping the desired perspective from a 360 - degree recording. Also included is a new battery with a capacity of 2,290 mAh, which lasts for 75 minutes of 8K recording and 135 minutes of 5.7K recording.

The X4 supports 5.7K recording at 60fps and 4K at 100fps. (The X3 was limited to 5.7K at 30 fps and 4K at 60 fps.) Similar to older models, there's a single-lens mode that lets you shoot If you don't want to record 360-degree videos. (This will be recording in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.)

The X4 has a larger 2.5-inch touchscreen than its predecessor and is made of scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass.

Like the X3, the X4 can take photos with a resolution of 72 million dots. The new camera also features a Me Mode that records 180-degree video that conveniently hides your selfie stick. Unlike the X3, the Me Mode in the X4 is also available in 4K and 2.7K resolutions.

The removable camera lens protector could change the way you shoot in harsh weather conditions and environments, as it provides additional protection for the fragile lens. Unlike the experience some users have had with the X3 camera lens stuck on, the company claims that the removable lens protector will not interfere with the 360-degree "stitching" process.
