How durable is the foldable OnePlus Open?

Two factors are slowing down the mass adoption of foldable phones: price and durability. There are still some folding phones for less than €1000 (unfortunately, they do not often appear in Slovenia). Durability is still often a bone of contention. There is no doubt that they can withstand daily use for a year or even two years without any problems. How about three or moreč flight? However, these are premium phones that we expect will work for a long time. Recently, OnePlus also launched its representative on the market, which, at least in terms of specifications, conquered the competition.

The external screen of the new OnePlus Open has a diagonal of 6.31 inches, and the internal screen opens to a size of 7.82 inches, completely standard dimensions for this type of phone. The screens are refreshed at 120 Hz with LTPO 3.0 technology, which means that the refresh rate can automatically adjust between 1 Hz and 120 Hz. They chose the newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for the processor, which we have talked about so far. What you need to know is that the capacity is easily exceededč for almost every user. Surprisingly, they also installed a set of cameras, which is the best among foldable phones. The message is that OnePlus did not make compromises, even though they sound very clichéd.

As expected, the durability of the new phone was tested by JerryRigEverything. Like most modern smartphones, the OnePlus Open passed the scratch, burn and intrusion tests without any problems. The 6.31-inch external cover display with proprietary Ceramic Guard had no trouble taking hits with Mohs 7 points, while the ultra-thin internal display was easily scratched. coded with level 3 scratches. This is not too surprising, since the flexible screen is actually closer to hardened plastic than to glass. Other folding screens on the market fared very similarly.

Fortunately, the back and camera assembly are more resistant to scratches. The collapsible course is supposed to withstand more. like a million bending cycles, česar can't even check JerryRigEverything. The IPX4 rating also did its job well. During the test, dust and dirt did not remain in the mechanism of the movement.

As a final test, the phone had to pass the bending test in the opposite direction. The Google Pixel Fold and the Motorola Razr+ are both covered here. The OnePlus Open passed the test with flying colours. The phone returned to its original state after bending, the only difference was that it no longer closed as before. The combination of titanium alloy and carbon fiber certainly contributed to its excellent durability.
