Wireless display with e-ink display

Inklay introduced a new 9.7-inch e-ink display and inserted it into a decorative wooden frame that can be set up or hung on the wall to display interactive information. The screen has a 3:2 format, a resolution of 1200 x 825 and can display 16 shades of gray.

The device can be powered by three rechargeable AAA batteries, which are said to provide an operating time of one to two months, depending on use. Another possibility is that the screen can be continuously powered via a USB-C cable. To make this possible, the screen content is only updated every 15 minutes to twelve hours, depending on user settings, as e-ink consumes energy only when the screen content changes.

The WiFi connection is only established for a short moment while the screen is being updated. So-called “Inklay apps” can be selected via the associated smartphone app and installed on the smartphone screen. To get you started, there are apps for Strava and Solar Manager, as well as an image gallery and web browser. The latter allows you to create your own control panel or display any content from the web. In terms of dimensions, the Inklay measures 24.2 x 17.9 x 1.3 centimeters.

The Inklay is currently available directly through the manufacturer's website as a beta model, with a choice of walnut or oak frames, each for around €300.
